Sr. Buyer/Planner

Position Summary

Innofiber specializes in the development and production of innovative fiber optic cable assemblies for medical and industrial applications that meet the highest industry standards. As the Senior Buyer/Planner, you will play a key role in the procurement of material, products, and services that are required to support the operation and for manufacturing and shipment of final products in accordance with Company standards, production schedule, and most favorable pricing.  As seekers of the best deal for their organization, a buyer searches for the highest quality goods and services at the lowest possible cost to the company. Buyers also make sure to examine trends, sales records, and inventory levels of current stock. They also examine foreign and domestic suppliers and keep up to date with potential changes that may affect the supply and demand for products and materials.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement

  • Leverage procurement background to accurately procure parts for our manufacturing operation.
  • Utilize relationship building and negotiation skills to identify and engage with preferred suppliers.
  • Locate/identify potential sources of supply appropriate to the scope and nature of the company’s requirement.
  • Initiate quotation process for materials, products, and services.
  • Negotiate and place purchase orders, along with expediting purchase orders according to demand.
  • Follow up on backorders and past due purchase orders, communicate with end users the status of their orders and expected delivery dates.
  • Monitor & maintain inventory levels and ensure suppliers build and deliver on time.
  • Work with internal team(s) to resolve issues related to purchased materials, including product/material/service quality, invoicing and returning.
  • Keep an on-going maintenance of item master data in our inventory system. Implementing and managing an efficient process for setting reorder points and safety stock levels.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Help to lead initiatives for assessing components and material obsolescence and proactively mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Review historical trends on GMP inventory and recommend actions.
  • Collaborate with production teams to create production schedules that meet customer needs and optimize production resources to achieve minimized lead times.
  • Continuously assess production capacity and adjust plans as needed to address constraints or unexpected delays.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams using demand forecasting tools and historical data to generate accurate demand plans and ensure smooth procurement and production flows.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies in procurement and planning activities.
  • Meet minimum standards of safety per assigned department.
  • Act as team leader, mentor, and coach within the purchasing team.
  • Responsible for savings and KPI achievements and its reporting.
  • Maintain documentation related to procurement and planning processes.
  • Provide analysis reports, as requested, to upper management when required.
  • And other requirements as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience/Education

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, or equivalent of 5+ years of experience in Purchasing/Planning and Inventory Management, preferably in a medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of the medical device industry regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485) is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Proficiency in using supply chain software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Working understanding of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning.
